Just realized I am buying a VERY expensive dinner tonight . . .

My girlfriend and I are going to dinner tonight, and she suggested we go to D'Amico Cucina, a ritzy Italian restaurant here in Minneapolis that is closing soon. I have only been there once, when I was in high school, and found it very nice, so I agreed without questioning it.

I just now realized it's one of the most expensive restaurants in town - sounds like it will be at least $250 for the two of us. That, and I have to get dressed up. At least it should be a nice meal, but honestly I'd just as soon have a $40 Chinese meal or something along those lines.

I need to pay more attention during these kinds of conversations . . .

I truly enjoy getting dressed up and going to a really nice GOOD dinner.
Take this time and enjoy being with your lady. Relish and remember how nice she looks sitting across from you.
It wont be so bad if you go into the restaurant with the idea that it is all about the experience and not how much you are spending.
I certainly hope your GF appreicates it though.

That's not that bad... dont you own like $1000 watches? or is that another guy w/ a similar name?

Anyways, as long as the gf isnt demanding this on a nightly basis, I think 1 night of ritzy dining goes a long ways in pleasing her which in turn will please you. it's all win win

I would spend $1000 just to have a lady go out with me for dinner (by her own choice) just once. :(

Tell her they're booked. Go to a moderately priced restaurant and use some of the money you saved to have a fun night out.

Why would anyone intentionally go to a restaurant that they know is closing soon? Aside from the concerns that the staff might be phoning it in and less attentive to quality because of the fact that they're soon going to be out of work, there's the inescapable reality that restaurants close down for a reason and it's never a positive one.

$250 for 2 people? No wonder they're going out of business...

If you don't get any after this meal OP it's time to look for new female companionship.

I went out to buy a new vacuum this morning. I ended up buying a new chair, new speakers, $15 worth of jelly beans and a $250 phone.

Never did get the vacuum.

Everyone has their priorities or places they want to spend their money. Some like expensive computers, some like cars, some like bikes, etc.
