Well ok it was released a few months before that but most of us hung on to v3.0 until 3.03 was enforced ;)(Feb 1st 2001)........I switched 1 week before the enforcing date & I regret doing it so early!:p
For those who weren't around then v3.03 added about 50% to WU times!:Q

Anyway ,I think this is the longest they've gone without a client change (ignoring GUI v3.07).
I bet you guys with big fleets are glad about that;)

Happy 2nd Birthday to v3.03 ;)

I know I'm happy. The prospect of going around to 50 clients is not a fun one. ;)

Happy Birthday 3.03! :)

I guess your looking at S@H2 with mixed feelings then?;)

I don't think there was a v2.07 ,there was v2.04(GUI) & v2.4(CLi) but v3.0 was still faster than those on most machines( PII onwards anyway).
There were some betas v2.6x & v2.7x but I don't know how they compared to v3.0.
Those betas btw were only supposed to be run by the beta testers but many non testers ran it anyway!.

Our very own MisterM was a beta tester & I did some WUs for him to see how fast it was for myself ,that was the only legite way around it:)

Honestly I'm really looking forward to S@H2. I don't like the idea of installing a new client all over the network but if the new client takes care of the cheaters (

:disgust: :| ) I'll be happy.

Oh yeah, I remember doing some beta WU's for MisterM as well. I also remember it really screwed up my SetiQ back then. ;)

How nice, congrats Client v3.03! :)
I'm a member for 2.729 years now, but I was a while inactive in the first year..
And I believe I used the GUI at first (stupid me..)

Don't fret mate ,in the days of v1.0x & v2.0x the GUI was only a touch slower than the CLi as long as the graphics weren't showing:)
As for being inactive for a while I'm sure the SETI Gods have already punished you for that;):D

v3.03 win/mac/solaris was released 11.12.2000. The wincmd was released 14.12.2000, and I immediately changed to this on all machines.

On normal wu's:
28,17h -- v2.66
6,58h --- v2.70
10,39h -- v2.71
12,49h -- v2.73
10,78h -- v2.74
8,44h --- v2.76/v3.00 (same client)
6,749h - cmd-v3.00
10,94h -- v3.01
14,34h -- v3.02 (v3.03 has some network-changes)
10,333h cmd-v3.03

cmd-v2.04; ehm 7-9 hours... (unfortunately the info I've got is from the same time as the beta-testing...)

v2.70 was terrible on VLAR's, using 11,27h/wu. But on other wu, it was at the time the fastest windows-client.

I've always called it v2.04, since major_version=2 and minor_version=4, the same as for the gui, and now it's 3/3. ;)

Interesting times RD:)

Especially v2.70!:Q:confused:

btw you say v2.66 gives 28.17hrs :Q,but then you say latter that v2.66 is the same as v3.00 & gives 8.44hrs:confused:

Uh, fixed the little typing-error.

The wingui-v2.66 was really terribly slow.
In v2.71, they added an extension to the chirp-rate-analyzing, so the crunch-times increased...
In v2.76, they adjusted some thresholds so the result files didn't fill up with too much garbage...
V3.00 only changed version-number from 2.76.

Heh, 8 wu with 2.66 should probably be as terrible as 200 with another gui. ;)
