An E-330...and for the price of this thing it damn well better be my last grill:) So I bought the smoker box for it (another $90) and I'm wondering if anybody has any tips or have actually used one before? I'm planing to smoke a brisket on Sunday for the wife so I'd also take any recommendations on a good rub mixture for it...

Just bought the EP-330, gets delivered tomorrow. Can't wait.
Wish I had natural gas and didn't have to keep tanks filled up:\

Took me about 1.5 hours to put mine together all by myself, but do yourself a favor and don't use the "wrench" they supply, just plan on using a ratchet;) I'm hoping this smoker attachment works out...

I didn't get the natural gas version.

I wanted to get an E-330 so bad this year. I went with a cheaper stainless steel Kenmore for $350 that can be converted to natural gas instead. I hope this will last 3-5 years and then I'll get my Weber.

In the meantime, I'll get a natural gas line run and never have to worry about refilling tanks ever again.

The EP-330 is natural gas, the E-330 is LP

I kept going back and forth on the Weber myself, it's a lot of money for a grill...then said screw it because I saw the smoker box and that kept me from having to get a seperate smoker, hopefully...I don't even have gas available to me so I'm stuck with LP till I move:\

Nice...I wanted the stainless myself but $150 extra for 3 little pieces of metal just didn't seem worth it to me, the black still looks nice

Is it just me or did the "porcelain enameled cast iron" grates look pretty much like straight cast iron?

Look up Aaron Franklin smoking brisket on youtube. His stuff was rated best in country.

My wife got me the copper E-330 a few months ago as a birthday present. Compared to my old gas grill this thing gets hot! I burned my first cooking attempt, chicken.

But I've gotten used to the heat control and love it. I've never made brisket on this grill so I cant offer advice. I have made a rack of ribs using indirect heat and those came out good and in half the time as on my weber smokey mountain cooker.

Charcoal low and slow is the best way to go if you have the time and a good smoker but that's is another discussion.

That's why I settled on the EP, $100 less than S-330 and probably easier to keep clean.

Salt and pepper for the rub. That's all you need. Can't say I'd ever try smoking a brisket on a gas grill, but that's just me. Let us know how it turns out.

I have the same grill. Great grill! Only paid $140 for it new though :) Haven't bought the smoker box for it although if I want smoke in there I just take a coffee can I have with holes in it, throw some very lightly damp chips in the can and stick in while I'm cooking. Does the same thing without the extra $90 in cost. And I think the grates look like straight cast iron to me too.

Nice grill OP. Have the stainless one myself. Didn't even know they made a smoker box for it. I have a kamado grill I use as my smoker. Holds the heat incredibly well and uses hardly any fuel.

Here is what I use for briskets (Paul Kirks recipe):

Mustard Slather:
1/4 cup Dijon mustard

2 tablespoons pickle juice (from a jar of dill pickles)

1 tablespoon dark brown sugar

1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

3/4 teaspoon hot sauce

Rub

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

2 tablespoons light brown sugar

2 tablespoons smoked sweet paprika

2 tablespoons garlic salt

1 1/2 teaspoons onion salt

1 1/2 teaspoons pure chile powder

1 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground pepper

1 teaspoon celery seeds

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

1/8 teaspoon dried oregano

Coat the brisket with the slather, and then apply the rub.

$140? Off the back of a truck?

Yea I just dropped 20% down on a new house with ss appliances, bought a ss fridge, washer and dryer for another 4.5k, among a bunch of other stuff. Few extra dollars for the matching ss grill was trivial lol.

And damn the burgers I just made were up there with the best I've had anywhere.

No, H.E.B. around here has done clearances in the past at the end of the season on grills. Sometimes it's a small clearance, sometimes it is a huge one. Depends on the inventory they have left I guess. The year I got mine it was for $140 at an HEB clearance.

That is beyond insane.

I used to live a few miles from Weber HQ and went to the tent sale they randomly have. Have never seen one in the $140 range (were going for $250+ if I recall).

Thanks AT, now I need a new gas grill. I'm mainly charcoal but my old gas grill is going to cost too much to fix so I may as well get a new one. Have a natural gas line sitting there ready to use.

What about infrared? Gimmic or read deal? I would want to have a rotisserie as well.
