Also whats your fan speed at? Or do you even know..... The default nv5 fan speed is like 40% or something. Put the fan speed to 80% or higher. Trust me your temps will go down.
Like he said, you shoulda looked at what your temps were before you installed it to compare. I just saw someone else with a 6800gt that said their temps were 83C or something before the nv5.
I am one of those people with a 83-85C (loaded) 6800 GT. I recently moved it to a new (hotter) case and now I get hardware crashes after 20 minutes of hard gaming. Conveniently, SVC is having a sale...I'll pick it up tomorrow.
with the NVsilencer installed my BFG6800GT doesn't break 65C after 30 minutes of ATI tool artifact scan (ambient temps - ~72F). This is a HUGE improvement from 85C. Five hours of Toca Racing 3 at 1680 x 1050 maxxed without a glitch.
I'd say the NVsilencer is about 15% quieter than the stock fan. I was a non-beleiver in these things until I read that the 6800Gt's cooler was crap.
My previous "test optimal settings" overclock was 420/1.1. With this silencer I get 445/1.14, which is rock stable. If you have a 6800, this is the best $15 you can spend.
My 7800Gt maxxes at 52C, I'm not in much of a hurry to swap out the heatsink on that card, but if the silencer for the 7800Gt ever goes on sale...
