Did I win?

UDPATE1: Have had this set up for about 5 days now. The cable box doesn't work have comcast coming out sunday so I haven't got much experience with the HDTV or movies yet.

However playing xbox the picture is SOOOOOOO big, bright and vivid. I can't believe I have been missing this the whole time. Its like playing the game for the first time again getting used to the joy stick moving around the giant screen is like being a rookie again.

I may need to think about a different location for the TV to allow more distance between seating and the screen....we'll see though.

Sounds like a winner to me! I can see a warranty making sense on a DLP, especially if it includes replacement bulbs.

I think the Dell deals on the 65" and 73" DLPs are the best TV deals out there right now.

It sucks having to buy warranties and ship back products for repair. I bought my tv from the local Costco that has the typical 90 day return policy, free 2nd year warranty from Costco and a free 3rd year warranty because I used an Amex.

Don't some warranties just pay a repairmen to come to your house? I'm pretty sure Panasonic's concierge service is like this; you don't have to do anything but open the door for them, and they'll either repair it or box it up and ship it to the repair facility for you.

Looks great and what a deal. Sometimes I wish I had a bigger screen than my KRP500m but I live in an apt and move pretty often. Moving that thing would suck!

Nice set. I have the 837 version and don't regret it one bit. Nice that it really isn't heavy at all.

The big question is will you get it before Friday :p

I actually asked them to postpone deliver until the end of the month because the room it is going in wont be ready until then. I wanted to take advantage of the deal though before it was gone.

Also regarding the warranty I purchased its for on site service I will never have to pay to ship anything.

Unless you like your eye balls. Some people complain about seeing a shimmer with DLP. I am one of those. They make my eyes bleed worse than LCD from 20 degrees.

To be fair, the KRP-500m is made out of pure, unadulterated win.

I must agree. Even better than my 5020FD.

Is there a firmware hack out there to make mine an Elite (111FD)? I know that the hardware must be identical.

Bulbs for the recent generation Mitsu sets are $99 from the manufacturer. The only issue I know of is with the dynamic iris. Apparently there have been some failures. But, replacing that is still cheaper than buying a new set.

I was gonna say you might want to find a backup bulb,as they do wear out/burn out.You will not want to have it go and have to wait a week or so for a replacement.Just sayin, new set looks great!

Yep. I figured when the lamp inevitably goes the warranty basically pays for itself.

Same TV I have and it's pretty good. Only complaint is that the menus take longer to load than expected and if you don't have a sound system, that even includes adjusting the volume :p.

I'm seriously considering the 73". How often do they have deals like this?

I believe they switch between the 60", 65" and 73" based on the week... usually.

Sometimes the deals end very quickly though and you really need to jump on them ASAP. It'd be worthwhile to head to slickdeals and sign yourself up for notifications.

I pretty much accepted that built in sound for TV's these days is mediocre at best. I'm shopping for a 5.1 setup now.

Hopefully anyone shopping for a $1,000 TV would audition it in person first (or at least one of similar size and technology). If someone doesn't have any problems with DLP, then I don't think buying one is akin to gouging out one's eyes :p.

I really wanted to buy the Laservue set that was setup next to the one I bought. But, it was 3x more and not worth it for me.

I will say that compared to flat panel sets, these DLP sets do seem to sound better. I guess they have more cabinet space to play with.
