I'm giggity, giggity, giggity with excitement.

As many carriers as this is hitting, I really hope they have dedicated accessories for it. I would love to have a car kit/home docking station. That's the major thing that I can't get for my myTouch that I really wish I could get.

If The Shack comes through with quick shipping, I should be reporting back in just over 2 weeks with a hands on video/review.

I would expect lots of dedicated accessories since it's been hyped a lot and is going to be distributed across many carriers.

Which version/carrier of the Galaxy S are you getting?

The only Galaxy S you can preorder right now is the Vibrant (plus he says he has a myTouch, which is T-Mo).

OP, did you have to sign a new contract to preorder at Radioshack? Or, can you extend a current contract with them?

I did an extension on a Flexpay account. I know its not supposed to work but the order went through. We'll see closer to ship date if they cancel it.

so the pre-order didn't go through because apparently once you are on the no contract plan, you can't change back.

I found one on CL for $300. I'm going to pick it up tonite!

Just go to a T-mo store and buy it???

I wouldn't trust any phone purchased from someone on CL. There's no telling what they've screwed with on the phone. Hell It could be fake for all you know.

If you were willing to re-up your contract with T-mo and pay that rate, just buy the phone at T-mobile. You can do 0% financing with them, so it's the same as extending your contract.
I paid $250 in store for mine and am spreading the rest of the cost out over the next year.

Your post doesn't make any sense.
People buy stuff on CL on a regular basis.
I have bought 4 used iphones on CL and the transaction was perfect everything.
FAKE ?? LOL, nobody makes fake Galaxy S. Iphone, YES, other phones NO.
Its not like you can't just plug your sim in the phone to make sure it works before you buy it.

Its $450 through Tmo. I'll save $150+tax any day of the week.

EDIT: You also can't re-up once you are on a no contract plan, as I stated.

There isn't anything that anyone could do that can't be undone.

Unless it has a complete crap battery, or there's some weird issue with it.

There's something that doesn't sit right with me buying an item from someone for that much money and not having the slightest idea if the mfg'er will still honor it.

Hell he could have screwed up a root-ing attempt.

While you can't "re-up" you can still get the phone you want and spread the cost of it out over time, which is all you are doing when you get a "free" phone with a 2 year contract. Notice how the no contract pricing is cheaper.
Warranty and something that hasn't lived in some elses pocket and had someone elses nasty hands all over it is worth it in my boo, and I'm a cheap bastard.

Sigh...I won't debat the ignorant but I will address your concerns.

1. The mfg warranty is tied to the IMEI. It goes by date of production. If you are beyond that, you can use a retail receipt to get it extended out.

2. The price is still $450 even if its spread over 2 years. I refuse to make payments on something for 2 years when I most likely won't have it for 2 years.

3. There is no way to screw up a rooting attempt. Flashing a radio, maybe.

4. Battery isn't a concern since the phone was only used by a chick for a couple days before she realized it was too much phone for her.

So the Craigslist guy didn't know the difference between ATT and Tmo. Long story short is I went to Tmo and just bought the dang thing.

Now...how about those accessories?

OK...here's a very important note:

DON'T PARTITION WITH ROM MANAGER!!!! It partitions the internal memory and makes for an interesting ride.

Thought for sure I had bricked my stuff but it looks like I can recover.

Doh! That was quick. Yeah, that will brick your phone. There's couple threads about that over at XDA. Sorry you had to learn firsthand. But it's recoverable from what I read. Good luck.

Alright here's my mini review. Things to note, this is my very first smart phone but Ive used plenty of iphones before, mostly the 3GS and the 4. Ill say right now that before I even touched the Epic, I thought the screen on the 4 was puny. After using the Super AMOLED and the 4 in, it is the perfect size. Not too big and not too small. The picture on it is amazing. I keep it only at about 30% brightness and it is nice. I can bump it up to 100% and its a beauty but uses a lot of battery. The screen door effect is slight but only when you are basically holding it about 3 inches from your face. Other than that its not noticeable at all.

From my first day with the battery, it lasted pretty well. About 8 hours of using it non stop with 3g connection constantly with pandora and di.fm, all while browsing the net and using GPS it just alerted me of low battery. Not bad at all but I would keep a charger or a car charger for heavy use.

For the phone itself, the keyboard adds a bit of weight to it but it is not bad at all. What I noticed from the Tmobile Vibrant was that it was too light. Felt like a demo phone, a fake one. This makes it a bit sturdy which I like.

Speed wise its amazing. No slow downs on anything. Everything is instant and it's awesome. No hiccups on Sprint's 3G network and the sound quality is miles away from my Blackberry I had. There was some 3G slow down when I was streaming music and surfing the net but its expected. I cant wait to head back to school in LA to see if there are any 4G towers to test out.
