I know there was a thread on here about Madden 07, which I agreed with. For many reasons Madden was a disappointment. However I thought NHL 07 would be good, the demo seemed promising so I went out and rented it.

Graphics are very nice. The way the game was put together is complete crap though. First of all it has this stupid stick demo at the begginning of the game, that YOU CAN'T SKIP. Then before you play the actual game you have to do some stupid shootout, maybe you can skip this, didn't try the first time.

As for the game itself. Well I fired it up and started a dynasty right off the bat. Freaking menu system in the dynasty is VERY similar to Madden 07 (aka CRAP). I signed one free agent, jason allison. He started off on my minor league roster, ok fine. SO I go try to move him up to the NHL. I can't, have to scratch someone first. Ok, well thats a completely different menu, *sigh* whatever. I go find someone to scratch, try to scratch them but I have to have someone filling his spot. Gah, why can't I just temporarily have it empty? So I put someone in his spot on the lines, then go try to move Allison up again. For some stupid reason I STILL can't. I just got frustrated after about 5 minutes of trying to get him on my NHL roster that I just went to play an actual game.

The new stick control is nice, but aside from that the controls seem to suck. To check someone you have to CLICK the right trigger stick. I dunno about you guys but I find that very difficult to do accurately and on time. Sometimes I'll manage to get the stick to go straight down and click, but the majority of the time it just goes left or right slightly and doesn't actually click. The only other option for controls are the classic ones where you have no stick control. Why can't I just edit certain controls?

blah, gtg will add more complaints later!

It sounds like your one of those people who pick up a game and expect it to be incredible off the bat. Trust me, this game takes a while to figure out, and its not like your the only person who has ever tried to use the new controls without a problem. Give it some time and youll maybe like it.

So basically, you suck at adapting to new controls?

Dynasty is a pain to navigate, I'll agree. But I rarely play cpu.

Online matches is where it's at. And the game looks, plays, and "feels" like hockey.

EA has put out some pretty sucky editions of the NHL series, but this isn't one of them. (See 2001, 2003, 2005)

From what I've read on the gamer boards, NHL2K7 and NBA2K7 are better than their EA counterparts...

Nah, I just find the controls to be ackward. I love EA's Fight Night controls. One of my fav. games of all time. I used the hitstick in madden and use the RS for juke moves etc... I dunno, maybe the controls are something I could get used to given time. They just seem ackward.

That is far from my biggest complain though. The menu system is what REALLY pissed me off. Im one of those guys who loves to play dynasty mode. The menu system was just awful. I'll give it a little more time for the gameplay portion of it, I imagine I'll get used to that. That still doesn't fix the awful menu's though.
