Called Sam's today just for the heck of it and they said they got a few in today. EBworld got them today as well.

Anyway the game runs awsome on my setup max detail. 1280x1024@32bit max drawing distance. No slowdown at all and the graphics look nice and polished. The bikes in the game own :D.

Running:
1600+@2100+ 166FSB
512mb PC2700
Geforce 4 default clock
Acoustic Edge
ect
ect

I recommend this to anyone who enjoys the series and definately if they havent played the PS2 version. This is so much better. Call your local stores maybe you can get lucky. If not they will be there tomorrow or Wensday.

I've been playing it for some time on PS2 and I agree it's one of the most fun games I've played in a long time. And the story is a lot better than GTA3, the real voice acting adds a ton to the game.

I just got this game too and the wait was worth it. I initially got the PS2 version but didnt care for the low res graphics after thoroughly enjoying GTA3 in high res on the PC. The PS2 version just looked really bad on my big screen HDTV so I sold it off and decided to wait for the PC version. The PC version of Vice City runs way better than GTA3 for the PC did. I rarely buy games on initial launch and this one did not disappoint.

anyways, vice city is no exception... awesome game and i think that rockstar did a much better job with this one compared to gta 3... runs 10x better than gta 3 as well.. the overall missions are funner and just everything looks much more better...

I WAS enjoying it, but have hit a weird problem: It seems a neutron bomb went off and depopulated the entire city!!!

I loaded a save game and immediately noticed that there weren't any pedestrians and only a few cars. Regardless of time of day, the place is empty, which totally sucked because after I finished the "Steal The Tank" mission, I had to run a long ways before I hit the cop shop and boosted some wheels. WTF is that about?!?!?

I just checked all three of my save games and they're ALL FUBARed with no people and cars. Only starting a new game gets things to normal. WTF?!?!?!?:|

Def thats it very odd. I am a few missions past "steal the tank" mission and have never had that problem. Maybe theres something wrong with one of the save game places. Have you bought any new buildings or are you still saving in the hotel?

Do you mean this?
Something on my comp is screwey. I can out run the graphics if i am going fast. I have to stop and wait for the objects to load. Has anyone else had this problem?

If so. Yes, this happens to me as well, only occasionally though. Sometimes I'll crash into thin air, but then if I turn around and look back, a wall or the barricades will appear. It also occurs with buildings and streets as well.

Great game btw, I've barely done any of the missions yet. I've spent most of the time cruising around, stealing/wrecking cars and listening to the wildstyle :D

:edit: just a quick update, changing to windows 98 compatibility mode fixed the texture problems for me.
