Just picked up biking again.....will the uncomfortable seat feeling go away?

I just bought a new mountain bike last week as I wanted to pick up biking again. Nothing serious...just some rides around the neighborhood and maybe through some local trails. I was into mountain biking 5+ years ago. I went for a ride last weekend, and my god, the seat was hurting my a$$! Is this feeling going to go away? Do I just need to get used to riding again?

Padded shorts + making sure you have a seat that works for you. Seats can take a lot of time to find the right one. My dad found one after several years that worked perfect so he purchased as many as he could.

When you get a more comfortable seat. I got one that was both padded and springy (flexible silicone suspended by a frame). Much better!

Just so ya know... the pole is not the seat. You need to attach something to it, like this maybe.

Otherwise, your're doing it wrong. Unless your into that sort of thing. If you are then, maybe the feeling will/won't go away, maybe it will get better....

bike saddles are a very personal component. everyone's ass is different. I would suggest going to a lbs and seeing if they have a saddle loaner program. many bikes stores will also let you return the saddle before 30-90 day are up if you don't like it. You can also measure your sit bone to see which width seat to get. The right saddle width, angle and bike fit > saddle padding.
I've found the wtb rocket v saddle to work well for me on my mtb and cross bike.

Humm. That would explain why the nuns keep riding around smiling.

I like the Terry Fly saddle. I have one on my road bike because I haven't been riding much and my arse isn't used to the Fizik Arione I had on it.

You'll get used to it. Just keep at it and take a couple days off between rides until your ass feels better.

I'll give it a couple weeks to see if I get used to it before I change saddles. I took the bike on a camping trip last weekend and went for a light ride....it was very uncomfortable.

He's probably not using enough lube. Also, after a long sweaty ride, it's helpful to cuddle with the bike a little bit, and not just throw it into the basement.
