We're going to Bonaire in June to get married on the beach. Gonna stay at the Plaza Resort Bonaire for 14 days. I'm so excited. Two weeks of non-stop scuba diving, dining, hiking, and bird watching (among other things that shouldn't be said here ;)).

Has anyone ever been to Bonaire here? What are some of the better dive sites there?

Guess this means that no one has been there. Oh well. I got an underwater housing for my D1X so I can promise that there will be enough pictures (out of the bedroom only though ;)) for everyone to feel like they've been there.

Congratulations. You will love it there. They have 81 shore-diving sites. Theft from cars is quite high there. Entire Island is a protected reef. We try to go to Bonaire, Curacao, Aruba, or Grand Cayman in the fall because they are out of the hurricane belt.

Be forewarned though, there is NOTHING to do there at night. On our first trip there we met a honeymooning couple that were leaving for Aruba because of the lack of nighttime activities.

When are you going?

We are going to Curacao in late September for either two weeks or one week there and one in Bonaire. We do time-share trades and it's impossible to trade into Bonaire.

The water is so warm I don't use a wet suit. Because the island is a protected reef the wildlife are large and friendly. My wife snorkels and turtles come right to her. Thousand Steps is a fantastic for diving and snorkeling. BTW, most of the dives there are shallow.
