which is better for gaming: athlon xp 2800+ or sempron 2800+ (both socket A)

i would say the athlon

XP; the Sempron Socket A ratings are scaled toward Celeron D clockspeed, whereas the XPs are scaled toward the Athlon Tbird's. If you're going to buy Socket A, though, try a mobile 2400+ and a cheap heatsink for overclocking. The XP 2800+ is probably above $100, where it's simply not worth it to get something other than an Athlon 64 or Sempron 3100+.
