Just out of college... What Certification should I get?

I have experience working as a student doing help desk and installs and that type of stuff. I can not get a full time job however, and I was thinking that a Certification would help... maybe A+? What do some of you experts recommend I do?

A+ might help you get a job at the local comp store. Won't help getting anything any bigger.

The MCSE will give you a better chance, but still not a good one. Learn Oracle

WTF? You're out of college with a degree and now you need a cert? A+ is junk. If you want to work for barely above minimum wage as a technician in a shop, then yeah, get it.

where did you graduate from?

try to get into a larger company through the helpdesk. market now is horrible for recent grads as there is no training money and employers want people that can come in knowing how to do things as opposed to teaching you. Once you get into the helpdesk do everything you can to solve the problem at level 1 and get to know people. Volunteer free time to go hang out at server upgrades, cable laying, etc.. then when another job opportunity there opens up you'll be a shoe in. Going through the helpdesk first will give you in depth knowledge on what users expect and want, as well as inside knowledge on how everything there works. I almost think everyone in IT should spend a few weeks working the helpdesk wherever they work when they first come in.. dunno just my thoughts
