As the title says, I just ordered the NEC 20WGMX2. I'm excited and nervous:

Why am I excited? Because the monitor looks freakin awesome and was the only LCD I've ever even considered buying.

Why am I nervous? Because the price was a donkey punch to the head, and if my wife finds out (I'm gonna stick with the vague "I got a good deal on it" approach) she is going to beat me senseless...

Oh, props to xtknight. Your buying guide is awesome and your personal recommendation of this monitor tipped me over the edge.

I firmly believe your body parts will remain intact as long as you show her the awesome response time, glossy coating, high contrast, and built-in TV tuner/PIP.

Do not use the pre-programed modes such as "Movie", "Gaming", "Photo", etc. because they may cause banding in your color gradient. What I and other members do is leave the settings at "Standard" with "Advanced DV Mode" set to "On". Every LCD I've had has had banding to some extent, so doing that will make your color gradient the smoothest. Also, I leave the contrast down to 50% and the Brightness at 80.4%. Enjoy.

I recommend to donwload her (your wife's) best looking portrait picture then show that to her. If she still doesn't like it then find yourself a lawyer but make sure to keep the monitor. Just kidding :D
Congrats and enyou your first lcd.

What's it going for these days? BTW I paid $670 day it came out... have been using it for 6 months now...I would pay the same today again even considering how cheap other 20" are right now. Best LCD by a long shot IMO..

Yeah, Zebo gave me the link to the monitor and I couldn't get my eyes off of it. I love it. It's not perfect but it's the best I've ever used that's for sure. Have had it since May 22.

While it is the best monitor I've ever owned, I think I may see myself getting a 30 inch in the next year. Hopefully by that time, they will have 30" monitors with this ones 20" quality.

I got it for $612 from newegg and I have a $60 rebate from NEC that I got in the mail. So for me the total outlay will be ~$550. Pagecomputers has it for ~$575 I think, but they have a questionable reputation. At least with Newegg i know that if I am not satisfied I can return the monitor.

Oh, btw, the "IU gota good deal on it" approach seems to be working... :)

Thanks for the tip. I will check out your suggested settings.
