Everything is from newegg:

P4 3.0ghz 800mhz fsb
120GB WD 72000 rpm 8mb cache
Floopy Drive 1.44MB Sony MPF920-Z
LiteOn52x24x52 CDRW
Sony 16x DVD Drive
CyberPower 1250AVR UPS
Kingston PC3500 HyperX 512mb(2 sticks)
AIW 9700 Pro
Abit IC7
Antec PLUS1080AMG with 430 watt TruePower PSU
Logitech Access keyboard (who cares about it anyways...)
Logitech MX500
Logitech Z-640 5.1 70 watt speaker
2 80mm Antec fans
some $13 Belkin 10/100 Ethernet card
ViewSonic 19" CRT E90f+SB
Belkin anti-static wrist wrap

For a grand total of $2200, I choose FedEx Express Saver shipping. Is it a good deal? I've heard MANY people who claimed newegg would usually ship your stuff WAY earlier than what they say they would, is that true? I sure as heck hope I'll get it by next week :)

I got the Abit IC7 Canterwood.

As for the speakers, newegg have the Z-640 on sale for only $67. That's a darn good deal :)

My 2 cents (I guess I'm too late since you've already ordered).

Fans should not be purchased from newegg (5.50 plus 6 s/h for each? ha... get L1As from somewhere like frozencpu for $6... buy a few and you'll still come out cheaper than newegg after shipping for two).

Are you really spending $145 on a UPS ? Does the UPS draw from the battery only or is it like any other one that you can find on sale every other weekend ? If all you need is surge/brownout/and perhaps short power outtage protection (rather than the 40-100 minutes listed at newegg) you may be able to get by with a $30 AR type model.... granted, it's not the best, but for a home system, it'll do.

For portability sake, have you considered a separate TV card rather than an AIW card ? Last time I seriously looked at an AIW I realized that a Leadtek WinFast TV2000 XP would be cheaper than the AIW vs non AIW card.... and I wouldn't be at ATI's TV driver mercy.

Why buy a belkin nic when there's one on the IS7 native ? Going from an IC7 to an IS7 will save you $30some dollars and be how big a difference in speed (you loose PAT, which I think is only good for about 2%)?

Isn't the 3.0C price supposed to drop a little on the 21st ? I'm going by the chart digitimes.com reported as May 11th a while ago... then there was that 10 day delay for the 3.0C.

Lastly, don't spend money on a wrist strap. Keep things in the anti-static (actually, it's a metal lined constantly "ground") bag and rest the bag on the case/chassis/ motherboard tray/whatever is the grounded stuff as you install stuff. A few seconds is all that's needed. Whenever you work on the computer, be sure to touch the chassis before the hardware, you may even learn to just rest your arm on the chassis while installing things. That serves as a good enough ground for most circumstances (IE: you're not in the dry air of arizona installing this during a lightning storm on a big old shag carpet you've been dragging your feet across).

Send it to me for a couple of months to "burn it in" for you.

personally...

I would've gone with a single stick of 512meg ram, and would've got Corsair XMS
should've gotten an maudio revo 7.1 sound card

are you really going to be using all the features of that AIW 9700? that thing is a big money hog in most systems, and 95% of the people i know that have that card dont use it. they watch tv, same task can be done with a gf4 ti4600 and a tv tuner card for 100 bucks less.

Shuda gotten some WD Raptors in RAID 0 + a DVD-Burner!

And you should get a SB Audicgy2 for better surround sound from those 5.1speakers!

Nice rig!!! Hope u enjoy it!

CyberPower 1250AVR UPS

While that is an excellent unit, it is overkill (wasted $$) for your system. The 825AVR would have been plenty.

Er I guess some of those nice advices came a tad too late, but oh well, it's a college computer so...

I don't give a crap about sounds, really. So the on board sound is good enough for me. The reason I get those Z-640 is mainly for show, I wouldn't play them too loud or the landlord will crack down the door and force me to swallow my rig.

The UPS is just there for the extra security. Where I live(NYC) is pretty safe electricity-wise. But it never hurts to just get yourself some extra security. Especially when I've invested this amount, I might as well try to make it last as long as possible. I'll be doing a crap load of renderings(probably overnight renderings too) for college so that UPS definitly is worth it, at least that's what I think. Also it's got a DSL line protector, last time there was a lightning storm it fried my DSL.

For the board, well I really want the best that I can afford. The 2% could potentially add up to a huge difference especially since I'll be doing intensive things on it(rendering, editing). Also I can't really wait until the 21st, I'm too hellbent to get my new rig and the person who lend the credit card to me might change her mind if I wait that long.

The fans, I think I made a mistake there, but I'll learn from it, so it's not really that bad a thing.

For the raptor thing, I don't want a raptor, you see :) Also I have no idea how to set up a raid array(in fact this will be the first time I ever try to do anything to a computer inside its case)

For the ram, rendering takes a lot of ram so I get that. Seeing how the canterwoods are having so much problem with ddr400 I choose ddr433 instead.

Good call with the DDR434, i'm having a problem with my DDR400 with my Canterwood. I wanna throw this Gig of ram back in the vendors face!!! Well thats a little extreme, but you know :)

The RAID 0 was real easy to setup, i just hit alt+f for the fastbuilt utility, then selected my raptors and stuck them in RAID 0 Stripe! It's soooo fast

Anyway have fun buildin your PC! GL!

nice rig. for the money, i would've gone for raptors on raid, sb audigy2--but not much else different. the hyperthreading will help a lot with rendering ;) have fun.
