It will ship early, they almost always do.

My T41 is nearly three years old and still as good as new. I'm about to sell it to upgrade to something faster, but i'm looking at the T60 as I just LOVE the laptops and their support.

Welcome to the family!

I'm using a T60 right now...best laptop I've ever used. The fingerprint scanner isn't as great as I would have hoped...just doesn't read that well. Other than that, great battery life, etc etc.

not aware of any deal right now. I got my x60 for about $1025 after all the discounts, fatcash, amex, tailormade, ibm employee 15% off....

I'm leaning towards possibly getting an X60 (or heck, even an X60 tablet for the higher res screen), but i dunno how a lack of an optical drive might hurt me in the long run. I mean, i BARELY use mine in my T41, maybe 2-3 times a year max.

I wish they offered a 1920x1200 17" screen, at a price point near Dell's E1705.

Dell @ < $2000 with a better screen and vid card
Lenovo @ > $2800 with a worse screen and vid card

No real choice there, unfortunately, even with the build quality taken into account.

I love my X31 too, still does everything I need it to do. I just installed a new hard drive too and it flies!

good luck with that unit man =(

ever since lenovo took over we ahve been having nothing but trouble with them.

we have deployed tons of them here at my company and a large percentage are having issues that require RMAs right outa the box..

good luck though man.. but its not the old school think pads that were so good..

This is a t43 im on here love this turned down the 60 they were gonna give me.

Lenovo online orders give the most pessimistic estimate of shipping. My T60 shipped a few days after I ordered, much to my surprise. This was end of November in the middle of the holiday sale. I got the box less than one week from the moment I ordered (7 days).

So far, I'm unaware of any problems. I didn't get an extended warranty and figure it might be a good investment. I believe I have one year from the order date to take them up on that offer. I'm not a heavy user. Sometimes I use it daily, but a week or more can go by without my using it. On top of that, so far exclusive of one plane trip, I've only used it at home. I'm careful with it and in a contolled environment I figure I'm less apt to have a problem. Still, I think the ext. warranty might be worth the money. I don't care about on-site, but I figure if things start going wrong it could get pretty expensive to fix them without warranty coverage. Some people have a laundry list of things that have gone wrong with their Thinkpads.

On a side note: does Lenovo make monitor stands compatible with the newer docks? This is an important feature for me, since it saves a lot of desk space with an external monitor in tiny dorm rooms.
