Hey folks,

So I picked up a 3800+ X2 for $90 today :D :D :D

I want to at least get it up to 2.2 Ghz, so that single threaded performance is on par with my current 3500+.

How are people's overclocking results with the Toledo?

I got my 3500+ up to 2.6 with no problems, hopefully I can do that on this guy :)

It should easily do 2.2, and 2.5 or 2.6 shouldn't be too much problem. I put one in my wifes rig and got it to 2.5 with a very small vcore increase, it would do 2.6 but took significantly more vcore so I settled at a cool and comfortable 2.5

Sounds good, I realized I should've held out for the more efficient version (Manchester?) but hey, it's just tiding me over while I brew up a Core 2 Quad later this year :D

Someone posted in a thread over on FW that the got an LCB9E X2 3800+ CPU up to 2.8Ghz. Very impressive OC IMHO.

We just got a LCB9E 3800+ X2 to 2.6GHz on stock volts. It will post at 2.8GHz with a little more voltage, but the temps are too high on the AMD heatpipe HSF. I bet with decent cooling, a stable 2.8 or 2.9 would work.

2.4 would be good with me :)

I think my PSU will be a big drawback. I have a decent motherboard, but my PSU is early 2004 vintage, and is pretty heavily loaded. I did get my 3500+ to 2.8 one time though..

My Zalman CNPS-7000ALCU (I think ;)) should keep things cool.

CCBWE 0545RPMW : ~1.48V (mobo uses % of default voltage, I set it to 9.9% over), 2.5GHz (could go a tad higher, but can't crack 2.6; maybe 2.54).

I'm at 2.4 with 1.39v. Prime95 stable overnight at 60c on both cores. Seems a bit hot.. I had to re-apply arctic silver since I was getting bad temps (63 at 2.3 with 1.37v) before..

I may push the issue a bit, see if I can get up to 2.6 long enough to run a MeGUI benchmark :)

I'm already over 100% faster than my stock Venice in encoding tests, so I'm a very happy camper!!

Nice benchies. Check out the madman with an 8 core Xeon box... he's getting over 350fps in the first pass now :) They're tweaking the multithreading code just for him..

Got my X2 3800 toledo today. It a LCB9E and is running at 2.6 GHz at stock voltage. It's running around 60 degrees with both cores loaded.

What are you using for a HSF?

Sweet deal.

I'm having weird stability issues now... When I use my system, it will randomly shut off with no warning. Idle or load, it doesn't seem to matter. I suspect my power supply...

Oh well, back to stock speeds. I don't want to worry about it right now :)

I just got my x2 3800 intsalled. I have LCBKE stepping. I am running it at 2.6 at 1.35volts. It will load windows at 2.8 at 1.35volts but it failed prime hitting 67C. It will post at 2.9 at 1.35volts but fails to load windows. I have a zalman CNPS7700-AlCu. I think with something else I could maybe hit 3.0 or atleast close. How much better is the Freezer 64 Pro than what I have? It seems to be cheap and pretty good.

Just an update with benchmarks from SC.
144 at 2.45ghz without sound 9640 / min[ 3.15] max[ 40.46] avg[ 13.519]
144 at 2.45ghz with sound -3973 / min[ 0.68] max[ 21.58] avg[ 7.795]
X2 at 2.6ghz without sound 10107 / min[ 3.33] max[ 30.10] avg[ 13.781]
X2 at 2.6ghz with sound 8347 / min[ 3.24] max[ 37.15] avg[ 13.468]

Yes that is a negative score from the 144 with sound. I thought all along my Audigy 2 was the reason my score was so bad since without sound it was pretty good. It seems the sound engine in SC is very cpu intensive and it is threaded since my cpu upgrade drastically increased my with sound score, but did little to my without sound score. Anyway this seems to be the best $80 I have spend in awhile. Next upgrade is my GPU.

Did any of you install the AMD optimizer or the MS patch? I have not done that yet.
