SWEET!!! Now i'll really be able to cram through units, i havne't been online in a while, is berkley still down? heh, how much can i expect to cram with this new beast?
Well, i'm currently running a Duron 850, so i should expect it to run AT LEAST twice as fast righT? I get a faster bus speed, more clock speed, and a new core...buahahaha
Those times seem kinda slow. My friend's XP1700+ on an MSI nForce board puts out a 0.4xx WU in about 3:30. This is with some stuff running on it. His fastest WU so far has been about 3:10 on a 4.xx when he wasn't using the comp. This is all at stock speed and RAM at 2-2-2.
Or then again, maybe that nForce board's DASP prefetch mechanism actually helps a bit for Seti. Either way, glad that sucker is on my fleet .
<< My 1700+ on a Soyo Dragon + averages 3:30 per WU so I don't think it is necessarily a function of the chipset. >>
I'm going to be running mine on that mobo too(as opposed to my k7vta-b i'm running now)....so it is a chipset update for me as well......what OS are you running?
Sweet, my mobo(Dragon +) came via fedex today! Two more components till i can Get my new system up and running!! My XP and my DDR!!!! They should be here Thurs
just got myself a new 1800+ upgrading from a 1600+... then puttin the 1600 into my gf's box lot a new extra Dp's for me in eccp.. then another 1800+ soon as well
XP1700+ running @ 1470mhz default is averaging 3.23hrs per WU. Average is over the last two months since I built it. I don't see any need to OC it at this point. On my KR7A-Riad it also only runs 40-42C crunching Seti 24/7 (system temp 20-22C).

that's not bad for a temp, what cooling do you have running in there? or is that high for an xp??
<< Ijust added one to my little fleet and it's not much faster than my thunderbird 1.4 is at crunching >>
totally.
if you swap from a t-bird to an XP using the same mobo, you won't see much difference really..
i see about 30 mins difference and there is a 200MHz clock speed difference in my case..

I'm running a Taisol CGK742092B (B is for the 25mm Big Voodoo Daddy 5800 RPM fan that sits atop the HS). It is a rather efficient HSF combo that can be had for under $20 (no copper if you are big on that though). Of course the 5- 80mm case fans help airflow a little in my Antec SX1030.
My XP1500 @ 1800 (1.33GHz@1.53GHz) churns out 0.4xx WU's in 3.5hrs.
That's on a 153MHz FSB,CAS 2-2-2-6,4 way inter.KT266a chipset,Crucial DDR RAM.Win98SE lite.
My fathers 1.4GHz T-bird turns out 0.4xx WU's in 5.2hrs.
That's on a 133MHz FSB,CAS 2,Turbo,4 way inter.KT133a chipset,Crucial PC133 CL2 RAM.Win2k & Win98SE lite
<</shakes me head - still haven't overclocked that thing yet, huh? >>
I was hoping you wouldn't see that. I'm going to do it tonight (maybe)- I want to complete a WU in under 3 hrs. I'm getting WU's finishing in 3hrs 5min, 7min etc.. Thought I could get a sweet one in under 3 hrs, but no luck. I'll go for 11*145= 1595mhz. I feel safe there, although I may have to back off memery timings a bit to 2T instead of 1T.
