Just ordered a FFC for my Vibrant

Mod looks simple but it's worthless right now. The back camera is worse with this mod so the tradeoff isn't remotely worth it. Plus none of the video calling programs like Qik and Fring work with it. What's the point when you can't use it for video calls? I'll wait til they figure out the bugs.

Its mostly just to mess with it. I actually want to do the mod and then warranty swap my phone just to see what happens.

Plus a lot of the ROMs are based of i9k software which does have a FFC.

Again...its mostly just because I'm bored with the phone.

Order one, too. Running the bionix ROM, too. I figure by the time I actually get and install the FFC there will be adequate developer/software support.

I just installed this and it works great! With Eugene's new Froyo ROM, it works with Fring.

There is a FS/WTB thread on XDA. I paid $25 shipped plus $2 for a thing of paint thinner from my local hobby shop. It was very easy to do. 7 screws and a couple clips and the phone is apart. The most difficult part was waiting for the pain thinner to do its job. I was super worried about scratching my glass.

If I ever do it again, I'll follow their advice and use Goo Gone. My phone stinks pretty badly right now

How bad is the banding on the back camera?

I'm not sure at all what banding is. I took a pic of my monitor and didn't notice anything too bad.

Nice work! Yeah I see no postings on Captivates so I guess that would be a no for now.

Unfortunately it looks like the internals of the Captivate, Fascinate, and Mesmerize won't fit the camera.
