Just one SINGLE dead pixel on my new laptop... Sony is fixing it!

I received my new T350 ultraportable this Saturday and noticed on dead pixel. Since the screen is so small it kinda bothered me. Decided to give them a call on Sunday morning and the lady said that the supervisor will have to OK the repair first. She called me at 9 this morning and said that everything is all set and I'll get a box tomorrow to FedEx the computer to the service center! They'll be doing a LCD replacement I believe.

I didn't even needed to do much convincing. For a screen that small (10.6") w/ less than 1 million pixel, and a machine that expensive, I'm glad Sony didn't try to give me the run around. Been very impressed so far.

Now... have any of you ever send anything back to Sony for warranty repair? I have a few questions...

1. Do they use new parts or old parts? It'll probably have to be new, since they can't really fix dead pixels.
2. How long is the usual turn around time?
3. How it the quality of the repair? I've heard horror stories where they say Sony will claim water damage and the computer will come back all scratched it up, etc.

Thanks guys for all your input in advance. Big thumbs up to Sony so far! :D

I'm not sure about Sony laptop support, but I've had a bad experience with PSP support.

I bought a playstation when it first came out 2 months later it stopped working. Sony said it would be 125 to send it to them and have them fix it . They already knew what the problem was - it had been happening a lot. the gentlemen said from sony. Same type thing happend with the PS2 when it first came out for about 2 years - Sony didn't stand behind that either.

Score for you, their warranty for LCD monitors is something like the dead pixels have to be the size of a quarter or something else ridiculous.

Just hope that the new screen doesn't have any (or more than 1) dead pixels.

Yea I am not going to buy a PS3 this time around. I've had pretty good luck with Sony other than their gaming systems. I remember I had to flip my PS1 upside down for it to work, and open my PS2 many times to clean it because of the "disc read error".

I did kinda get lucky this time around huh?
