i saw one of the msi nforce 6100 btx boards on ebay and with some research...

http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=335959&pfp=BROWSE

apparently they only sell these machines trough compusa, best buy etc at retail and not on the web.

but its a btx based desktop. nforce6100 system. there are a few other models too.... looks like btx really is starting to catch on if there are even amd based ones now. ihave a btx based pentium 920, but well, i'd wonder how quiet the athlon x2 3800 ones are.

from the looks of it, the athlon based ones gateway doesnt even bother with a rear case fan, and the pentium ones have it. so it has only one fan in the whole machine.

Yeah, we sell those at Office Depot. I sell quite a few of that particular model with the 3800+. The unfotunate thing is that they organize the innards HORRIBLY. I played around with one last month to get a better handle on it and I was aghast at the horrible wiring and placement of cards was. Also, why would you sell a media center pc without a tv tuner card? Honestly, WMP10 will do almost everything media center will do just without the fancy GUI. Without a tv tuner, it seems pretty pointless to me. I'm sure some of you out there will disagree, though. Ah well... just my 2 cents.

yeah , i think the main reason hp/gateway etc sell "media centers" is the oem price for windows media center is barely mor ethan home.

i suppose it is useful if you have say, an xbox360 , so you can view files over the network by using the 360 as an extender.

i think most btx systems end up looking like that inside. the cards though it seems wierd, it makes sense if you want to put a giant passively cooled video card in there.

i agree though things like how the sata cables have to drop down from the top is pretty stupid, since the hard drives are generally at the bottom.
