Just noticed there might be a 3GB 7850 (or not, error?).

I thought they were all 2GB but I just found this when I googled.

http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/45315-his-7850-2gbd5

Now this makes things interesting with regard to replacing my 4870 for Skyrim. About twice the rendering powrer and three times the RAM, which mean HD texture packs. :D

However the model number hints at 2GB, so maybe it's just a mistake. And that model at other stores lists just 2GB.

Sadness...:(

I don't understand why everyone is saying it's not possible.
It is possible, it's just not likely to happen.

It's a definite typo. I know for a fact that the HIS version has 2gb. All the 7850's are the same.

Either way, not possible

Not so. They could use two different density VRAM chips to get 3GB on a 256bit bus. Nvidia did something similar with a lower end chip not too long ago so it's not out of the question, but unlikely.

Edit: Didn't see Lonyo's post.

Yes, but that took some silly driver modifications with performance overhead and was only done to hit a price point with the 550ti and now 460v2. It wouldn't be done on a performance card.
