Can you still apply all the mods and community patches if you buy oblivion off steam?

One thing to note is that OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender) does not currently work with the Steam version. If you only want basic texture replacers then this will not affect you. For complex mods, OBSE is commonly used.

I just checked out some OBSE mods, man there are some amazing things.

Modding saved Oblivion, I don't know how PS3 and 360 players deal with the game, vanilla is boring.

I dig the PS3 version. Vanilla is fine with me.

Yeah i got it from steam to try it with mods i own the GOTY PS3 version and have played it alot and want to change a few things, so far i have just replaced all the textures with the highest res one i can find and it looks amazing. I want to also find a few mods for the leveling system and the way the bad guys level up with you i want to stop that and have set levels for enemys, any suggestions?

true but you need the hardware to handle it. i have a pretty hefty rig and its like 40fps with qarls texture pack 3 and few other things and thats just b.s.
so i have to do without and just use high resolution. stuff like this makes me regret paying more for my pc than i did with my ps3

Are you using Qarl's Texture Pack 3 Redimized? It is just about pointless to run the regular version.

im using the regular Qarl's Texture Pack 3(normal, not the redimized) as well as a few other high res mods(for doors, items, armor, trees, grass, etc) as well as the view distance mod, works fine, according to my logs its eating 700-900MB of my video ram, im getting 50-60FPS which is playable. I have upped voltage on my VC and OC to 1000/1150 and it seems to be able to handle it.

The vanilla game is pretty solid if you never played a modded version in the first place. Ignorance is bliss. Once you've played it modded though the regular version is pretty piss poor in comparison.
