Just not my week!

Well, I've just about given up. Here's the situation: I bought 2 ASrock motherboards(the one with a PCI-E and AGP slot) and a new AMD 64 3700+ SD. Took out the old P4 rig and put the new AMD rig(with my old 6600gt BFG AGP) into the same Antec case, which also has a brand new Enermax 535 watt psu. Hooked everything up and double checked all the connectors and I'm having serious problems with getting it to boot up. I got it to boot a couple of times and even got into the bios screen a couple times as well. Ran the memory check and everything but it doesn't like something because it powers off. I tried a different PSU as well and the same thing happens. I took out all the memory expect for one stick of corsair xms and I still got the same problem. Then, I went out and decided to buy a PCI-E vid card: EVGA 7800gt, thinking that could be the problem, however the same problem occured. So, then I tried the other same ASrock board I bought. SAME problem happened. Then I thought it was the motherboard for sure because the problem was happening on 2 of the same motherboards. Went out and bought an Abit Fatality board thinking this would finally solve my problem. SAME problem occurs; however, I got it to boot once or twice and it also ran a memory check. I even changed the boot priority and slipped in the windows xp cd but it just hanged. Powered it off and now it's back to the same problem. I hit the power button and it stays on for about 1-2 seconds and then it powers itself off. I've tried 2 different psu's(both brands recommened by AMD 500watt and 535watt) and isolated the ram. Please help, this is getting down right ridiculous. Is it possible that something is getting shortened out inside the case? If so, how can I stop this?

power switch headers is the basically for the power button, correct? I tried reversing all of the
Case led/headers...and I got the same problem. But, I guess I'm going to take the entire thing out of the case and put it on a phone book and power it that way. It's possible I'm shortening it out in the case?

Took the motherboard out of the case and set it on a phone book (to isolate a possible shortening problem)...had the video card and 1 stick of ram in and it powered up for about a second, just long enough to make the fans spin and then powered off. What next? 🙁 I'm really starting to think it's the brand new AMD 64 3700+ San Diego core cpu.

You said it powers off.

Only time I've ever experienced that was due to automatic shutdown because the cpu fan wasn't properly connected. So computer was shutting down upon cpu reaching excessive temp, to prevent catastrophic failure (i.e.; flames & smoke).

You might take a close look to make sure cpu cooling fan is connected properly to the fan header on the mobo.
