How to get to Win2k command prompt so I can do a C: Format, I posted in my other topic, but I fear not many will look there, and I need a quick answer :) Thx

There's gotta be a way other then a bootable floppy? Ahh!

boot disk (floppy) can be downloaded from www.bootdisk.com that you put in at boot up after transfering the files to a floppy then start computer with cd support and at the c: (prompt) format c:/s
(enter)

hope this helps

Ok, but the file is 3.8megs and I only have 1.5meg disk or whatever... 1.8 maybe something low like that. What to do now?

download the 98.exe then use that and it should work unless you are using ntfs then you will need something different

here is the step by step

download the 98exe to your harddrive
then put in a floppy
format the floppy(can be formatted by going to my computer and right clicking the a drive and select format from the menu)
then find the 98exe file and double click it
extract it to the a drive(browse to the a drive)
let it put the drivers on the floppy then reboot with the floppy in the a drive
when it asks "start the computer with cd rom support
at the c: type fdisk c:/s
when done type fdisk/mbr
when done then fdisk/mbr again
finally fdisk/mbr again

this clears the master boot record completely then reboot enter the bios and ensure you have "boot from cd"enabled insert the 2000 cd into the drive
then type d: (the cdrom letter where you put 2000 in?)install

should have you up and installing

good luck
mike

Any reason you don't just boot with the Win2k CD and use it to fdisk/format?

If you're going to use a windows 98 disk it won't be able to see your NTFS partition. You're going to have to use fdisk to completely remove it and then format it as FAT32. That doesn't make any sense though so I'm not sure why it was suggested. The reason that the win2k bootdisk download is so large is because it's more then one disk and that's normal. As previously suggested, your best bet is to boot from the win2k cd which will allow you to delete partitions, create them, and format them. Doesn't really belong in the general hardware forum though.
