Just mulling over a decision: 1280MB->2048MB DDR... Worth it?

I'm just bored and looking at memory. I have 1280MB now, and 2x512MB would give me 2048MB (I'd drop a 256 for another system).

Would you pay $196? It's PC2100-R memory. Here's what I do:

Games (BF1942 and soon LoMAC)
Some Photoshop
Some code complilation

I think I know the answer, but I'm just curious to see what everyone says. 😀

Yeah, I don't know what difference I'll see.

I did however find a 1GB PC2100-R for sale for $125. If I can get that, it'd be sweet. We'll have to see (it's a FS/FT thing).

Why not just load the programs you usually use and see how much it takes. If you never break 512 then there really is no point in upgrading as you will never touch it.

You probably won't see any performance increase though.
