Replaced my ATI Rage Fury PRO 32MB with an 3D Prophet GeForce 256 DDR-DVI (got it from a friend).

So far I have noticed the ATI was a much brighter display, and the TV Wonder displayed sharper TV on the ATI. Other than that, ATI dvd player doesnt work anyway the Geforce came with its PowerDVD, so I will isntall it (even though I have a full fledged dvd player hoooked the tv, and I dont use this dvd software anycase).

I installed the Latest Det3 drivers, any tweaks that I should put in.

Congratulations! Another one assimilated...

Try the GeForce Tweak Utility here. It worked great for me. Although since I play less and less games, the tweaks don't even matter to me anymore.

I think all you have to have is DirectX 7/8 to play DVD's depending on what version you have.

Sadly I noer personal experience with geforce cards, but having had a nvidia card since the riva128, I can say in the past gamma tweaks have been very useful to brighten things, you may want to check into that :)

Don't know if that's true or not, cuz I had Direct X 7 yet it still won't work. I'd prolly need a player as well.. though WMP seems to work fine when the DVD software was installed in my last OS.

Does Win2k have any issues with DVD ?

well I just played Diablo II, and it looked STUNNING. Damn, my brother who plays the game all the time is also moving to a GeForce or a Radeon, something more powerful than the card he has (he also has a rage fury pro).

Going to try quake3 now.

Personally, I will never buy another Nvidia card again. Nothing against the company (I appreciate them keeping things from getting stagnant) but in terms of image quality they blow. Not too mention crappy drivers, I have had nothing but headaches from my Geforce, and I have been faithfully updating my drivers, hoping it will solve the problems.

My next card will NOT be a Geforce 3 (at any price) but a ATI Radeon II or a Matrox G800. (don't worry, I know ATI's drivers are suck, but can they be worse than what I have now? I think not.)

I agree image quality is worse than ATI. I see it when I run my video apps. The ATI has better color control on it. However at this point the other machine still has the ATI so I can check with it. I will later get a radeon2 on the new machine.

BTW: I added 2 new fans in today, put in an Antec Slot Cooler (I think its called Cyclone Cooler) and a 80mm fan in front. NOw the machine is so freaking loud.

But I will rest in peace since I know the hot air will be streaming out (the case is sh*tty). Oh by the way I am running 4 aux fans on 250W all connected to the HDD powersupply.
