Alright I just bought my pc and I have been reading about building my pc for a long time. I just bought a new Raptor and its OEM so does that mean I need to dl the drivers off their site and put it on a floppy or what???? I just need to know some of the less obvious things that the guides dont cover. EDIT: Please dont link me to Mechbgons guide or the corsair build reports Ive been reading every guide I could find since January.... I just need a little help. 🙂

no you shouldn't have to download any drivers. i got an OEM raptor also and u just plug in the sata cables and install windows onto it.. my problem is that my windows is on my raptor which is an E drive... dunno if i should reformat and try again

Yes, windows xp doesn't come with SATA drivers, so you download them off the site and put them on a floppy.

Ok, now I have conflicting answers.... Can you tell me which driver I need, Im looking on thier site and cant seem to find the right one... If you could help me I would appreciate it.

That's not true. I have installed XP a few times on my PC with only 1 80gb SATA drive. I didn't need any drivers. Heck I don't even have a floppy in the computer.

Ok, Ive just learned that any SATA drivers will come with the motherboard. Thanks for your help and feel free to add any tips for building.

If you have Windows XP SP2 you probably won't need any SATA drivers. Sometimes people run into trouble because they use the RAID ports on the motherboard/enable RAID on certain ports, which windows sometimes requires drivers for. Just avoid SATA ports labeled RAID and see if it needs to be disabled in BIOS.
