You could always stress your cpu with a good cause by using rc5, ogr, or seti! :) Check out the distro. forum for any help. I'd say for vid card and cpu, try running q3 looped.

Running a Q3 demo looped for a long time (e.g. several hours) is a good test as already mentioned. Some others you could try are:
Someone here posted the one below the other day. It's a program that runs in DOS that tests your memory with certain bit patterns. You can have it run all night if you like. I don't know exactly how thorough it is, but I reasonably trust the results (reviewed on ZDNet), and I haven't found too many programs similar like this, not counting retail software utilities like Norton Utilities (which offers basic hardware diagnosis/testing at best).
Here it is:

Good luck

Most lock ups in the 3D department will be heat related, so your system may be 100% stable but have problems with the 3D card clock speed and/or cooling.

I recommend using both a RC5-type program for a burn-in and a quake loop for multiple hours. It helps debug problems and helps determine system stability.

Even 1 degree of room temperature difference can mean the difference between a completely stable 3D environment and one that locks up every 30 minutes.

Quite a few programs here to choose from.
Benchmarks

Someone on the board had posted this link a long time ago.

I'm not sure about the temp, but motherboard monitor is the most common program I'v seen to read temps.

Just run Unreal Tournament for a few hours.
I just did it and killed my Geforce 2 GTS...
If your computer survives a 3 hour UT session, it'll survive everything.

does u guys really have to recommend RC5/ORG as a program to 'stress' CPU

RC5/ORG is the WORST program you can Stress cpu
seti is MUCh better
so is
Prime95

i think the BEST combination is running RC5 + Q2 Crusher software mode

please STOP telling people you can 'stress' a cpu by running RC5
it doesnt

have had the same thing happen... was because of a video card. never determined if it was compatability of the card or of the AGP patches.
