So read the uptime line in my hourly server log, as it was just after a power outage about an hour ago. I know you've all seen better, but that was the best uptime I've ever reached, and when you consider my unstable power, lack of a usable UPS and 24% overclock, it's pretty good.

You really should get a UPS. They go for as low as $25 nowadays (Hot Deals). Besides, if you hibernate and then resume, it's not really "shutting down" so you still keep your uptime because Winderz doesn't "reload".

if you care about uptime so much, I would recommend a UPS...

You can get a 500VA APC UPS at Office Depot for like $50.. I have one, and it keeps my 19" trinitron, cable modem, wireless, and my 350watt Enermax up and running for about 5 minutes... plenty for most power outages
