Called them and the guy said I was under a contract for a year... apparently and they charge me every 6 months.... fucking bs.

Lost $30... Don't use 1&1 is my suggestion...

1and1 is a shit company from my experience. My advice is to call them and basically bitch to them until they drop the charges to you. It takes awhile but it works eventually.

I believe they charge every 3 months and there is no contract. Are you sure you even called them?
