Here is what it summerized me as:

Positive Factors:

You have no late payments reported on your credit accounts

Negative Factors

You have a Derogatory public record or collection item on your credit file
- WTF!!!

The length of time your accounts have been established is relatively short
- 3 years, 4 months

The proportion of balances to credit limits on your revolving/charge accounts is too high
- $8,000 ($7500 in shcool loans, $500 in credit cards)

So where the heck did that collection item come from? I look into it further and it looks like the telephone company came after me right after I moved out of a different town once college classes ended. I remember getting something in the mail from them after coming back home for a while but I'm positive I paid it off.

The Assigned Date was May of 2001 (which is when I moved out) but the Collection Status is Unclaimed! WTF! I know I paid it off, and I understand the mark being on my score, but it should be marked as CLAIMED, SAVED, REPENTED, whatever, just not Unclaimed! :|

Is there anything I can do about it? I'm 100% sure I paid it off, so where can I go from here?

Suppose that $8,000 and Collection Agency running after me isn't good :(

Do you have a recipt stating it's "paid in full"? You should try calling the said company and go from there.

IIRC I called them up and then paid it via a cash/check card. Dumb of me now that I think about it, but they were saying that the quicker I pay them the least likely it will be that it goes on my credit. :(

Hell, I'm at 695 @ 19 years old :p THe only thing I've ever used to build it was a secured visa, that I paid off every month. :)

If I didn't have that blemish from the collection agency and -$8,000 I might be doing that good too ;)

Ah the classic loan question. If you don't got a loan, just choose the option that's on the lines of none.

I just ran mine... 666 @ 19 year old (evil number). The only thing that I am showing on there is a MEASLY 2300 dollar student loan. Not bad considering most students at my school pay 30K a year to go, I pay nothing. Just two open acounts, and I have never made a payment on each because you don't have to till you graduate. :p If anyone has any tips, feel free. Thanks

where can I go to check my score for free?

I broke down and spent the $13 to get it at Equifax.

You know that is only one of three scores right? Go to myFICO and get all three. It's not free but you get the complete score.
My score was 709 something like 2 months ago.

Just want the score to give me a little ease of mind so I know what's going on.

All three scores are like $35...rather put that towards my school loans ;)
