Hi jehh and welcome to the TeAm!!! Since you are in Denton, are you going to 3rd Sat tomorrow? I am driving over from Shreveport. Plan to have another box running by tomorrow night!
If ElFenix is doing the BBQ it will be chicken ribs! :;
ElFenix: The ribs sound good, how about some brisket on the side?
All: Thanks for the welcome, happy to be here.
Assimilator1: I run it on my PIII 750 box, I'm going to be running it on my PIII550 box next week once I get it networked to my main box. The PIII 550 is being upgraded to a Celeron 850 and the PIII 750 is being upgraded to a Celeron 950 within a week or so.
oh... and i know theres a restaurant up in dallas called elfenix... we're no relation... in fact, i may have had the name longer. i was wondering why el chico registered elfenix.com
I dunno if it'll play any part in your upgrading plans ,but the PIII 750 will be faster at SETI than a Cel @ 950!:Q.
It would be a close thing between the PIII 550 & Cel 850 though.
Assim1 is correct. The P3-750 will be quite a bit faster than the Celery 950. Not only is the Celery's cache smaller than the Coppermine's but it is also crippled. Seti is very sensitive to fsb speed & cache size & speed. Clock for clock Coppermine's are hands down the fastest consumer cpus for S@H.
Yes better than an Athlon, Thunderbird or Duron. The Amd processors clock for clock are better at Rc5 but Coppermines rule at Seti.
What kind of BX board do you have? Mine runs at 138mhz fsb easily. Are you sure it's the board & not something else holding you back like the ram or video card.
really? damn! they must not have expanded all that much then, i've been in texas for 18 years now and never saw an el chico until about 1996, and i've never seen an el fenix. well, i'm not changing. just know that i'm named for a knight in don quixote, not a restaurant.
