Well, I figured you could use another 235 work units, needing to catch up to the Linux group and all (or so I read on another topic).

Anyway, where is the beer and the girls in the hottub? ;)

ass1 usually has the beer. i'm afraid the hot tub girls are property of the federation, and i don't know if they'll share.

i have barbeque though, want ribs, brisket, sausage, or turkey?

Welcome to the team :D ,& here's the Beer ;)
BTW what machine(s) do you run SETI on?

Elfinex
Hey ! The Federation don't own the girls! :p ,their only 'available' to people who have hit certain targets!
I think 1 of them is 4k WU's ;)

Hi jehh and welcome to the TeAm!!! Since you are in Denton, are you going to 3rd Sat tomorrow? I am driving over from Shreveport. Plan to have another box running by tomorrow night!

If ElFenix is doing the BBQ it will be chicken ribs! :;:D

ElFenix: The ribs sound good, how about some brisket on the side? :)

All: Thanks for the welcome, happy to be here. :)

Assimilator1: I run it on my PIII 750 box, I'm going to be running it on my PIII550 box next week once I get it networked to my main box. The PIII 550 is being upgraded to a Celeron 850 and the PIII 750 is being upgraded to a Celeron 950 within a week or so.

I dunno if it'll play any part in your upgrading plans ;) ,but the PIII 750 will be faster at SETI than a Cel @ 950!:Q.
It would be a close thing between the PIII 550 & Cel 850 though.

Assimilator1:

Why do you think the PIII 750 is faster than a Celery 950? Does the extra L2 cache matter that much?

Thanks,

Jason

SETI still loves the better PIII cache over the Celeron ,its higher bandwidth & the larger cache make a difference.

BTW you've not been tempted to overclock it? ;)

Welcome to the team jehh.:)

Assim1 is correct. The P3-750 will be quite a bit faster than the Celery 950. Not only is the Celery's cache smaller than the Coppermine's but it is also crippled. Seti is very sensitive to fsb speed & cache size & speed. Clock for clock Coppermine's are hands down the fastest consumer cpus for S@H.

Better than an Athlon?

My 440BX board won't go much over 105 MHz. :) No way to overclock it...

Yes better than an Athlon, Thunderbird or Duron. The Amd processors clock for clock are better at Rc5 but Coppermines rule at Seti.:)

What kind of BX board do you have? Mine runs at 138mhz fsb easily. Are you sure it's the board & not something else holding you back like the ram or video card.

jehh: The BX board are great for the Celeron2's since you are lucky to get 100 MHz FSB on a Celly (except for the newest 800).

ElFenix: I thought you were a young college student? The El Fenix Resturant chain has been around since the 1920's! LOL :):D

really? damn! they must not have expanded all that much then, i've been in texas for 18 years now and never saw an el chico until about 1996, and i've never seen an el fenix. well, i'm not changing. just know that i'm named for a knight in don quixote, not a restaurant.
