Just joined team anandtech, got a bunch of questions

undefined:confused:

Okay, I just joined (and if anyone is really interested in my stats, take a look at rlyon@frogbelly.org) Anyway, my main interest is OGR, though I don't have my clients limited to that. I do have a Pentium 133 dedicated to RC5 (well, its also a router, firewall, caching DNS, light web server with no hard drive, everything loads off two floppy drives, despite all that, the machine is not that busy). Now, all you RC5 folks don't fall all over yourselves thanking me for adding that powerhouse to your efforts. <G>

Anyway, what are miniteams? Is there one within team Anandtech devoted to OGR? Is there anyway to compare stats to just other members of Team Anandtech? Why might I want to use the Team's proxy? Where can one see the performance of the miniteams compared to each other within the overall team anandtech?

Thanks!

Welcome to the team Potbelly!!! :)

MiniTeam = Some people cracking under the same e-mail
Some miniteams also do OGR.. I think that the "Federation" (?) is doing mostly OGR
Your fourth question answers the third one + You have stats every 15 min instead of once a day

The Federation Mini-Team does RC5 and only a little OGR.
The giantnt4vizmechthunderstorm Mini-Team does OGR.

Welcome to the team, Potbelly

I find it very helpful to flush to the team proxies. You can see your results long before they appear on DNet.

To see the status of the RoundRobin proxies look here.

Potbelly? - I resemble that! <grin>

Welcome aboard! :D

The RC5 folks welcome your P133 contribution, even if the OGR guys got the better stuff... :(

Glad to hear from another OGR enthusiast. While I have a few "hard to reach" computers still doing RC5, everything else is OGR.

I am a beneficiary of the Phantom Flusher for RC5, so my stats stay pretty good, but I can only take credit for the first 70% or so.

Welcome to the team.

OMG P133 - /. and DPC Watch Out! TA is coming through!

:)

Welcome to the team man. I started out with even more questions than you and look at me now, cracking a whole 15 blocks a day w. this puppy on 24/7 :) :)

My computer has serious problems like my friend who owns a computer company says my computer is so f'sked up everytime he comes over ....

Oh well ... Guess I'm going to change all that with my T Bird 1 ghz arriving in the winter time :p

Welcome again, DC Forum is the best, best group of people.

Leave Friday open, some major Game Box Action is going down.

Gah! A miniteam is a number of people under the same email? I'm too vain for that. <G>

Hmm, how about the following - could I run a couple of personal proxies (one for work, one for home) that then connect to TeamA's proxy to upload/download? I would like a good record of what I'm sending out before it hits the servers, so to speak, and I've got a small handful of non windows clients. They can't share the buffer files the way most of my machines are doing now.

This is amazingly addictive, all things considered.

Later!

Yes, you can run a proxy at home and one at work and have them dump into a team proxy. That's exactly what I do. I thought about having my home net proxy dump into my work proxy (which is on a T1 24/7) but I decided against it...why, I'm not sure. Welcome to TA!
