I wanted to let folks know I just moved joined TeAm AnandTech after having been part of the 2CPU team for many years. I have been doing DC since July 1999 with the original SETI@home, and currently have two 4 core machines with NVIDIA GPUs doing both CPU and GPU work for six projects. I am currently accumulating cobblestones at about 100k/day, and have about 43,000,000 total.

I have been reading AnandTech's articles for many years and this DC group seemed friendly. I probably won't be visiting the forums that often, as I am a busy executive, but I am proud to be a part of this team!!

Best regards,

Jim

Welcome Jim :).
Nice pair of rigs you have, what spec are they?

Both machines use an Asus P5WDG2 WS Pro motherboard. (I know these are getting long in the tooth... but they have been rock solid... the Linux machine has been operational on this motherboard since 12/2006, and has been running flat out at 100% the whole time!! Pretty much the same thing for the Windows 7 machine since 12/2007.)

The Linux machine (my main computer):
- Built 12/2006
- QX6700 quad-core CPU
- 8 GB ECC RAM (maxed out)
- 3ware 9650SE-8LPML with 8 WD RE3 500 GB HD, 7 drive RAID 6, giving ~2.3TiB, with one hot spare
- 4 WD7500AYPS in software RAID 6 (md), giving another ~1.4 TiB
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470
- Two LG Blu-Ray writers
- Numerous other accessories
- OpenSuSE 11.3 with Linux kernel 2.6.34.8, using KDE SC 4.7.0 desktop
- VMware Workstation 7.1.4, running several Windows virtual machines

The Windows 7 machine (my children's computer):
- Built 12/2007
- Q6600 quad-core CPU
- 4 GB ECC RAM
- 2 WD RE2 500 GB HD in RAID 1 using Intel southbridge
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260
- One LG Blu-Ray writer
- Numerous other accessories
- Windows 7 64 bit service pack 1

Wow, those are both great rigs. Amazingly after 4-5 years (with some upgrades obviously), they are still quite modern, too. Glad to have you on the TeAm!
