Just installed Zalman 9500 LED

I have an Intel E4300 overclocked to 2.7Ghz (9X300). Stock voltages on everything.

With the Intel cooler my maximum load temps would be around 60C. With the Zalman they are now about 50-52C. This is with the fan at full blast too. Are these kind of temps normal or did I somehow not install this HSF properly? I see people with load temps in the mid 40's, which puzzles me really. I've felt the heatpipes on the Zalman and they aren't really warm at all.

Is it possible my motherboard isn't reading the CPU temp properly?

How did you install it?

Also, note that heat sinks that use heat pipes are less consistent than those using strictly conduction through a metal.

I used the provided backplate and used AS5 as well. Installed with the horizontal orientation, fan blowing out towards the rear of the case. I have a 120MM exhaust fan as well running at 7V. And there is also a 120MM PS fan blowing down on the CPU.

PSU "blowing down"? did you reverse the fan? Generally the psu fan at the bottom is blowing into the psu and then out the back.

Did you follow the instructions on AS' site regarding the application of thermal compound?

If your PS fan is blowing down onto the CPU, it is blowing hot air. That is bad. PS fans should blow out.
