Just installed XP on a friends PC

We have used powerdvd, windvd and the one that came with his all-in-wonder 9600 and they all lock up.
Any ideas?
 
did you install all upgrades for XP, video drivers, BIOS Updates, Chipset drivers, etc?

Also, specs of the currently built system would help, it may be a hradware conflict.
