just installed win xp pro, and i've set my desktop res to 1280x1024 @85hz, and it runs fine. but when i tried my cs, which runs at 1024x768, my monitor runs at 60hz, i've tried turning vsync off, and it still maxes out at 60fps. does anyone know how to fix this? also, if anyone could point me to a good xp tweaker it would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm...I thought you would have a nVidia video card but I just checked your rig & it seems you have an ATI video card. I thought the default 60 hz problem only pertained to nVidia cards (goes back to 60hz when playing games). You can get around it by using "nvreffix" on nVidia cards but I dont' know about ATI cards.

well i did fix the problem by using powerstrip, but win xp was giving me way too many problems. my mouse seemed to be off, like it was too sluggish, i tried a lot of things, and i just ended up uninstalling xp. i shouldn't have messed with a good thing.

I belive the 60hz issue is coded into WinXP. Someone said it has something to do with compatibility.. or maybe trying to scare people away from OpenGL.
