Just installed Win2k3 Server standard edition..Anyone have problems with Windows Explorer

Install went fine but it seems that every time I launch Windows Explorer, it locks up momentarily and a few minutes later it goes back to normal. Has anyone else experienced that?

If I had that money, I would spend it on a fast computer instead lol. Back to your question, just remember that servers dont need to use winexplorer a lot, so it really isnt much of a problem. Just deal with it while u are setting up the server.

I haven't loaded Win2k3 yet, but it sounds like it is doing a refresh of the file index when Explorer runs.

Is this every instance of explorer, or just the first time after a reboot, and do you see the same
delay when opening in single-paned view?

This is with every time I open Windows Explorer.

What type of optical or external drives do you have on this machine? Any mapped drives to other machines?

Hmm, have installed several servers with 2k3 and no issues like this have come up for me.

i notice this problem, but not right when explorer opens, but when i access a certain drive (my e drive. if i click the folder, it pauses for a sec, then goes right ahead.

wish i could figure this out.
