but how do I unstall all the win 98 files that were on my computer. Can I just delete the windows folder or will that cause problems? Any help would be appreciated.

I would keep everything intect for at least a month when you'll know for sure if Win2K is worth keeping. 🙂

I agree make sure that Windows 2000 is suitable for you and your computer usage before you get rid of Windows 98 completely.

Ok I'll do that, but if everything turns out to be alright what's the proper way to get rid of all the win98 files on my computer.

Did you do an upgrade from Windows 98 to Windows 2000? Or a new install? If you did an upgrade, the installer already removed Windows 98, and there is no way to go back unless you to a reinstall of Windows 98. If it is a new install, then work with 2k until you are satisfied. Then, just remove the Windows 98 install directory.

I upgraded from win98, but I still see the windows folder in explorer, is that something that is safe to delete?

Is it a 9x folder or NT? If it is an NT folder most definately do not delete it because you'll hate the result. There are usually two Windows files in any one install. One called Windows and the other called 9x or NT depending on install.

Yeah there is one folder labeled "Windows" and the other labeled "WinNT". I know not to delete the one labeled "WinNT" but is the "Windows" folder safe to delete, if its too risky it doesn't matter. Looking through it shows that is just win98 files, but I don't want to make a stupid mistake.
