Yay, i've installed everything, and things have been working ok so far. i'm just about to jump into quake 3, and see how that runs. i have an aureal vortex 2 running fine with sp2, but i havent tried it with games yet. hopefully this works out well...

ahh darnit. i have the det 12.90 installed, and the graphics in quake 3 look kinda umm, not filtered. ansitrophic or whatever it's called is enabled. what's up with this? plus, even though my vortex2 can play wav files that windows throws at it, it can't play ingame sounds.

Had Win2k for about a year including my current and previous rig. On UT, I noticed framerate was slower (5~8 fps) on Win2k than Win9x/ME.

Too bad Auriel went out of business because they kept Creative on their toes.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB! If your card fails try the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. Its the unofficial sound card for the W2K Anand members.

I also recently installed Win2k, using a double-boot now [Win98se & Win2k]. Accoustic Edge works fine. In fact, with the lastest drivers, it sounds great.

I have the aureal vortex II working on W2K. Go to www.vortexofsound.com then find your card and driver's. It will give you a step by step tutorial. I did this and it worked for me.

alrighty, thanks bojax. BUT i still have a problem. once i boot into windows, i can play wavs, cds, and mp3s fine. but after i try getting into quake 3, i immediately get NO sound at all. i look up in my console and it tells me my sound system is muted, which it is not. after i exit quake 3, it seems as if i didnt install any drivers at all. mp3s and wav files will not play until i reboot the system. what can i do to fix this problem? oh yeah, and under device manager/sound and games, i see stuff like "legacy audio," do i need these?
