Just installed Win2000 yesterday, wondering if there was a specific DNET client to use...

Is there? Win2000 is pretty cool, except for the network problems I'm having. I haven't been to the dnet's home page yet, going there after posting. Thanks for the help.

normal Windows 32bit client is all Win2K needs. The beta version 464c is the fastest if you're doing OGR. No difference for RC5.

Uhhh Jon I found the 464c to be a lot slower on my K6s and a little slower on my Celerons.

Did you have better luck than I?

The new 464 client is about 15% faster on my Celeron A @466, from 2.6 Mnodes/s to 3.0 Mnodes/s.
But i heard of people with p2's, p3's that it was slower on their systems 😕

I'm running win2k btw, haven't tried with win98 yet. Maybe that makes a difference..?

nope, same speed increase in win98 🙂

Interesting, because on my Celly II at 897 (Win98), the 464c is in the range 6% slower than 463. Whereas I was originally getting over 6.2 Mnodes/sec using the OGR long benchmark with a couple of programs running in the background, it dropped about 0.4 Mnodes/sec in 464c. I have not yet tried it on Pentium IIs.

By the way, if you're going to test it, back up your other data first because it seems to start the stub over again. I had just put everything in a backup directory and when I replaced with the old client and old files again, it started the stub again where I left off.
