Just installed Vista last night

Hey all,

I installed Vista last night and it was a pretty smooth install. It took me a little longer than the 30 min stated in the other thread. I think it took about an hour, from the DVD ordered from MS. But other than the time there were no problems (well, one little blip at the beginning, i choose to download updates to the installation and had to restart the system to get it going again, but then no probs.)

Its pretty cool and it started itself at the beginning with Aero Glass and i liked that.

Anyway, my question is that i thought if i choose the option "custom install/completly new installtion" instead of the "upgrade windows" that I would be able to delete an empty partition (a la windows xp). I never got that option. So then I thought to myself, well maybe Vista has partition magic like abilties built into it so i can delete the epty partition and add it to the main partition after installation. Well, no go. So now i'm still stuck with a 17 gig empty space.

Anyone know why it didn't ask me about the partitioning and how I can fix it?

Oh yea, one more question, it still has a boot up screen to ask if i want to start my older version of windows or not- i thought it wrote over xp?

In terms of just the OS its nice and pretty and with the limitied time spent with it I already like it. SImple things like the Start menu just work better and are streamlined.

You need to click on the advanced options in the drive selection screen to get to where you can create/delete and format partitions.
