Just installed new hardware...just a check on temps...

According to the bios, the cpu was running around 32 C

and the system temp was around 52 C

now after lookign around this forum, I've noticed other system temps are much lower...My case is open for the readings. My PSU is really hot to the touch, and I can't remember if thats normal. It almost feels like the fan built into it isn't running. Thanks for any help!

Yea, its very hot. I can't feel any air being sucked out or sucked in from it either...I'll take it back and see if they have another one....What should the system temp be theoretically with the case open/closed. Is the cpu temp fine? I'm using the stock heatsink and fan.

The CPU temp is fine, but that PSU fan should be running. I swapped out a PSU with a dead fan in it last night and the thing was scorching hot, enough to burn me. Definately take it back for an exchange. BTW, what brand\model PSU and CPU?

CPU is a AMD64 3500+
PSU is some cheap thing I bought for $30 because my old PSU wasn't 24pin

I wouldn't chance your system on a cheap PSU. You don't necessarily need a 24 pin PSU. Just plug the 20 pin connector on your old unit into the motherboard and you should be fine unless your old PSU is also cheap. I'd pick up a good 24 pin unit if that's the case. Antec's TruePower 2.0 and SmartPower 2.0 and Fortron's Blue Storm units should work for you.

EDIT: I had a cheap 420W PSU kill a GeForce4 Ti4600, 3 hard drives, and an Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard on me. Getting a good PSU will wind up being cheaper in the long run.
