Just installed new 71.80 drivers - now video output is shifted horizontally?

My video output over DVI seems to be shifted to the right by roughly ten pixels - and the pixels that should be on the far right (for example, the scroll bar in a full screen web browser) are on the far left part of the screen. Furthermore, I tested out a few other resolutions (640x480, 1024x768, 840x525, 1280x1024) and all of those are just fine. (Monitor is a 2005FPW, native resolution is 1680x1050)

Needless to say, this problem only popped up after installing the new drivers. I find it hard to believe though that they didn't check the drivers to make sure they're sending out the signal correctly over DVI...

What in the world could be causing this? 😕

Edit: This is completely unrelated (or so I hope!), but it seems that my 6800GT is now idling at 70°C?? I'd been running it at Ultra speeds constantly in the past, and it would always idle right around 60°C (it's at stock right now). Are these beta drivers really that bad?

😕

OK....so I just installed the 71.25 drivers and all seems to be well. DVI output and GPU temps are back to normal. That is, until I open Half-Life 2 and see the "yellow water" bug I've read about here.

Back to experimenting with the 71.80's 😛

I like the 67.02's... they don't benchmark the highest... but they give good image quality, and that's more important than 500 3DMarks to me.

I'd been running the 66.93's since November I think. The reason I wanted to upgrade from the 66.93's anyway is because I was experiencing a strange bug with full screen video looking strange, explained in this thread.

Anyways, I just installed the 71.21's and they seem to be great. The temperature reporting seems to be normal, there's no more "yellow water in HL2" bug, and the DVI output is correct. 🙂

Often, pressing the "Auto Adjust" button on an LCD will fix this.

Have you checked out de_aztec in CS:S? I tried the 71.20's and I think 71.25's and they both make the grass on the lower level look way too shiny... like it's made of glass or something.

I don't really play CS:S much anymore, but I opened it up and checked out that map....sure enough, I saw the shiny grass you were talking about. 😛

Oh well, I think I'm still going to stick with the 71.21's for now; they fixed all the other issues I was having.

Thanks... I've had a hard time getting people to do that for me and I don't wanna try 50 bajillion beta drivers myself. 😉
