I have to admit, I didn't believe all the warnings about how LOUD these things are, but when I turned my computer on I about had a heart attack. I'm not real picky when it comes to noise, so I figured everyone was just exagerating, but they weren't at all. Is Vantec kidding or what? Do they actually expect people to install these things and still have their computer be usable? Anyways, I made a trip to Fry's and got some Zalman Fanmates, all is well now.

For all of you out there who are like me and don't think these fans are as loud as people say they are, take it from me, they are. Just one fan is way too loud. Put four in your case, and you might as well turn on a ShopVac and set it next to your computer, because that's exactly what it'll sound like.

Vantec did not design that fan for normal desktop computer users. Those fans are designed for servers that are obviously in a seperate room than the person/people using it. :p

Me being a silent freak, would lose my mind if I heard your computer. Even with a fan controller those things will still be loud as hell to me.

Yes the Vantec`s are loud!!

I have been using ThermalRight as well as the Zalmans-- both are bvery good!!

I find the specs on both brands of fans to be as advertised!!

Dynamix 3D: Yeah that makes sense. I am definitely not a silent freak though, so I'll live. I chalk this one up for experience. Live and learn.

Yeah they are around 57dBa which is insane. I used to run several Delta SHE units which were rated for 47dBa and THAT was bad...

If you value your health and hearing; get rid of the Tornados !! I know what its like to be 1/2 deaf. And it has been suggested that living in constant noisy conditions can lead to mental problems.!! Of course there are benefits : "what's that dear; I can't hear you; my fans are too loud " !

I actually like these fans quite a bit. They have the balls to move as much air as I want them to...if it's too loud I just turn them down. Right now my computer is at about the same noise level as it was when I had the stock Cooler Master fans, but it's running much cooler.

Now if that replacement northbridge fan from ASUS will just get here...
