Just installed an nVidia 8800GTX

The computer in my signature is the one I added it to. With the Radeon X800XL, I had a score of 1717. With the eVGA 8800GTX in place of the Radeon, I got a score of 5546. That card is ridiculously huge - nearly 11 inches long. Next, I want to upgrade the cpu, mobo, and memory. I'll post my score then too.

Yeah, well I got 218 when I ran it (edit: that is, 3Dmark06, not the 8800GTX) on my machine. Let's all give a big hearty woo-hooo for Intel's GMA950!

Anyway now that I've got that out of my system, that is a very sweet performance bump, it'll be a little interesting to see how replacing your 3200 affects it, if any. I mean I know it has an individual CPU score, individual graphics score, and then the total, and everyone posts the total; but I mean I wonder how much an upgraded CPU will help out your actual graphics processing ability.

Rainbow Six Vegas wouldn't even get to the title screen with my Radeon. It's playing with the 8800GTX, but it still slows down sometimes. Why the hell is this game so demanding? It doesn't even look that great.

cause it was a rushed port from the 360. I am shocked it gets slowdowns with a 8800 series card. If your running the 8800 on the system in your sig I'd say its not the 8800 and is the 1gb or more than likely the 3200+.

You "only" have a gig, seems that some of the newest games require two gigs for hitchless gameplay. Maybe that's not so with Rainbow Six Vegas, I dunno, but I know it's new and everyone's saying how you "need" two gigs in all the countless rate my rig threads.

Just for a reference my system below gets 8850 in 3DMark06. Nothing is overclocked. I guess the C2D can make a big difference. But you got a huge jump up so that was money well spent, congrats.

the game isn't optimized for PC's at all. it is a rush port from the 360. Anandtech claims that it has tons of bugs. have you tired OC'ing your CPU? that might also be the problem.

No, I haven't OC'd anything. I've seen enough people doing it on here that I'll be confident enough to do it with the next cpu I get. I know a guy who recently got a E6600 Core 2 Duo and says he OC'd it from 2.6 to 3.6 Ghz with an after-market cooler.
