Just Installed a dual monitor setup. Having problems starting OpenGL Games...

...like Quake-3 and return to castle Wolfenstien. I get an error message "GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem"

What's my problem here? do I have to reinstall some games so it can run correctly???
 
Which video card did you use ?

When I had a matrox g400 in dual mode, i can't start games.. have to switch to single screen mode...
 
That's relativley simple to fix. you see, when windows discover's dual cards it disable's openGL acceleration and engage software emulation... in some openGL games this creates a mere speed hit... but... Since both QuakeIII and RtCW (Both the same engine really) require openGL acceleration, they abort. What you've got to do is simply disable the monitor when you go into the game and bring it back when you get out. A snap!
 
Oh, BTW, the simple way to do that is click on monitor 2 in display properties and then just unclick the "Extend my desktop onto this monitor" tab. Then reclick it when your done with your gaming.
 
And an even easier way to do it is to get Realtimesoft's Ultramon. It's just a tiny tiny little app that sits in your system tray. Double click....monitor 2 off. Double click again...monitor 2 on. I haven't used the more recent versions, as they keep adding features I don't need. But there may even be keyboard shortcuts in the newer ones.

this sux. still having problems with other games still. tried that ultramon program. seems very good but seems to have bugs. other direct 3d games won't start, like links 2001 and f12001. help please. this is really annoying me.
 
Are you sure you have the drivers installed correctly ??
I got that same error in RtCW just cuz my video card wasn't a 3d card. (therefore had no OpenGL drivers) was installing it on my server to host - but it won't load.
