Seriously, while I know there are probable statistics on the web, but I just wanna know why it is that they print that label everywhere? What about people who are lactose intolerant? Or are allegic to strawberries? I never see those warning labels.

i heard a story on the radio about one girl in an elementary school that has a peanut allergy.
as a result of her allergic reaction one day, the school started forbidding lunches brought from home that had peanut butter or peanut by-products.
EDIT:

When I was a camp counselor there was a girl who went into shock because she stepped on a Jelly Belly which apparently may have traces of peanut oil. I can't imagine being so allergic to something so common.

The reason peanut warnings are all over the place is that they tend to be the fatal kind (even in small amounts). Also as someone else mentioned if chopped up fine they are hard to spot.
Also if you chop peanuts on a cutting board and then chop something else on it that could trigger a reaction in someone in spite of what they ordered not containing peanuts. That is why you will often see the blanket warning of "Peanuts are used here, all items may contain peanuts" or something like that I don't remember the exact warning.

Yea, I think it's the fact that the Peanut Allergies KILL kids, whereas I believe lactose etc are just going to make their stomach ache and some gas develop
It was an insensitive comment, but banning PB&J sandwiches because of 5 people in a school of say 300-500 or more is retarded. The school should just be more careful if it's that serious of a problem.Originally posted by: rpc64
That's a very insensitive comment. Everyone has issues in their life that they have to try to deal with.
