The title says it all. I mean, Is it like 2~3 gates per every city? It's ridiculous!
Well, at first I thought they're something like "Boss-Fight" type of thing that'd take place 3~4 times throughout the game. I was sooooooooooooo wrong.
only 7 or 8 gate designs though ... that's 90+ Sigil Stones 😛
[and great gear]
and after you learn to run thru the Lava straight for the Tower Portal .. closing a gate takes 5 minutes total - on average ... you don't have to fight *any* enemies ... just grab the stone
[and go into the light]
:Q
I saw a number online somewhere that said around 100 gates.
But you only need to do a couple of them for the main quest.
The rest are for side quests and just plain looting.
Also, up until that magic number, you spawn about two more gates every time you close one.
I really need to play through this game again (and buy Knights of the Nine). I bet it looks a whole lot prettier on my new Athlon64 4000+ and AMD X1950 Pro 512mb versus my old A64 3000 / nvidia 6800GT 256mb.
IIRC, there are an infinite number. Everytime you close one, another pops up somewhere else. I, myself closed about 36 and stopped cause there are essentially 3/4 unique Oblivion Plain maps.
