Got one on the way with an Alpha. The 38cfm delata fan has been described as "noisy". Anyone got one that can shed some light on the this?

WHAT? CAN'T HEAR YOU, YOU'LL HAVE TO SPEAK UP!! THIS DELTA FAN IS DROWNING YOU OUT!!

Seriously, they are pretty loud but most annoyingly they have a very high pitched whine that can be heard in the next room even.

Larry Joe,

I gotta 30 CFM Delta to replace the pitiful one on my Coolermaster HS. It is quite a bit quieter than the 38, and according to the tests I read the 38 is only 1-3% better in cooling. The 30 brought my CPU temp down from 53C. to 47C.

Hey hey now! Noise like that is good when amungst peers at a LAN party / Convention! Got a second "showcase case" lying aroung? If so, put it there, do all you mods there, & use it to SHOW OFF! Attention is so nice... So is having a jet engine sound in your PC... *sigh*

It's also embaressing when people come round to visit and ask you why your computer is making that noise.

That's why I said he should only use it in the "Showcase case." :)
It's just for show, so during it's off days all the gear (But the fan) goes back into the home PC case...

Well, I called 2cooltek and caught my order before it shipped. I am glad I talked to them as I changed my order completely. He confirmed that the Delta is loud (like a hair dryer) and that I would be better off with a Sunnon fan, which he described as quiter and more powerful than a case fan. It would also be as quiet or quieter than my current golden orb.

I had an Alpha 6035 Utlra Kit w/delta ordered and ended up changing it to an Alpha PEP66T w/Sunnon fan after I mentioned I was putting it on a slocket. Good company.

Thanks for posting so quick, it allowed me to catch my order. As for "showcase" systems, this is my environment and having a jet engine echo through my sunroom would have sucked.

Thanks again,

LJ

Nice setup! Very neat.

Do you get the full effect of the rear speakers in that position?

Thanks. Oh yeah, the rear speakers are perfect for EAX or any positional sound. When sitting at the desk and playing a game, the rear speakers are pointed right at your ears. This is perfect for separation from the front and hearing footsteps and other rear sounds. As for music, they could probably farther from the fronts.

I need to replace my POS desk with a nice curved one like that.
